Designed by Me in Cupertino

Working at Apple

I’m proud to have designed internal tools for Apple for eight years, working with multiple business groups - from HR, Finance, IS&T, Retail Stores, and Global Channel/B2B Sales.

During my day-to-day, I collaborated with cross-functional experts to distill complex user problems into meaningful, easy-to-use solutions through user research, thoughtful information architecture, and compelling visual and interaction design, aligning user needs with business and development goals.

With a background in graphic design, I have a strong focus and keen eye for visuals.

UX, UI & Visual Design for macOS, iOS, watchOS, and web-based enterprise tools, which help Apple employees to do their jobs
• Development and moderating collaboration workshops for non-designer partners (stakeholders, engineers, executives, etc)
• Creation of design systems and extensive icon sets to be used across products
Hiring, mentoring and creative direction of interns, junior designers and contractors
• Design and presentations of hi-fi mockups to peers, directors, engineers and stakeholders
• Consideration of accessibility and localization, as well as Apple’s standards of design patterns and branding
Close collaboration with business partners, engineers, researchers, prototypers and data visualization artists
• Delivery of specs and assets to the development team, with ongoing collaboration to ensure design fidelity in final product

Projects

Most of my projects from Apple are internal and confidential, and can't be shared or discussed in detail. Below are a few examples of my work at Apple, describing the general goal of the project, the team structure, what my role was, and how I arrived at design solutions.

Apple Mobile CRM

Problem
Apple’s B2B and Channel Sales group is responsible for about 70% of Apple’s total revenue worldwide. Apple’s sales teams needed an efficient, intuitive mobile solution to track their pipeline sales to third-party partners, from major resellers (Target, BestBuy) to mom-and-pop shops throughout Asia and Europe, B2B partners (airlines, corporate offices) as well as the Education sector (universities, schools).

Digital Catalog

Project
Digital Catalog is a web-based tool for third-party retailers worldwide of Apple products set their own prices, selection of devices, and customize what shoppers see at any given time.

Channel and B2B sales produces nearly 70% of Apple’s revenue, so making this process easy and accurate for users with different levels of tech knowledge or internet bandwidth is crucial to the success of Apple’s worldwide sales.

MFi (Made for iPhone)

Problem
If you have ever purchased an non-Apple accessory for your Apple device (such as cables, bluetooth speakers, chargers, smart home products, or a vehicle with CarPlay), then chances are that accessory went through a certification process known as MFi (“Made for iPhone”). Both the third-party vendor and Apple’s internal team use this tool to track, test, and certify accessories, so they can ensure compatibility with Apple’s current technologies, and use the “MFi Certified” logo on their packaging.
